Losing weight is only half the battle. Keeping it off is the real challenge. That’s where the scientific approach of the Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method is key. It takes you through four phases, tailored to your specific needs, to achieve sustainable, long-term weight loss.
Phase 1: Fat Burning
In this phase, you’ll start on the Ideal Protein diet, eating 3-4 protein packets per day to provide your required daily nutrition. This diet reduces your carbohydrate intake, which pushes your body into a state of “ketosis”, in which it burns stored fat instead of sugar. This direct targeting of fat results in healthy weight loss that protects your muscles. This is important, as it allows you to maintain a higher metabolism – an important element in sustaining your weight loss once you start to adjust your diet.
Throughout Phase 1, you’ll have weekly meetings with your coach. These meetings will include a weigh-in, measurements and body composition analysis. Importantly, they are also an opportunity to discuss challenges, celebrate successes and consider new strategies.
Phase 1 continues until you have lost your desired amount of weight.
Phase 2: Boosting Metabolism
Once you have reached your desired weight, you’ll start the transition to sustainable maintenance of your weight. Phase 2 is when we start to increase caloric intake by introducing your own lean protein source to your diet, replacing one of your daily Ideal Protein packs. This is the start of a gradual shift away from relying on Ideal Protein and allowing you to eat regular food and will increase your metabolism in preparation for the next phase. Phase 2 will usually last for no more than 2 weeks.
Phase 3: Pre-Stabilization
As you enter Phase 3, the focus is on preparing for long-term maintenance of your new weight. You will start to carefully reintroduce carbohydrates and healthy fats, allowing your body to adjust and respond appropriately. This is a key step in the process and will set the stage for long-term success.
Phase 4: Stabilization and Maintenance
As you move into Phase 4, you’ll return to a balanced diet with the help of your personal weight loss coach. The focus will switch from your physical transformation to implementing healthy eating principles and adopting a lifestyle approach to maintaining your new weight. With ongoing support from your coach, you’ll learn how to shop, cook and eat for a healthy, new you. We’ll help you understand the potential pitfalls and how to avoid them as you embark on your new lifestyle.
